Restaurant Online Ordering Takes-off
Internet Restaurant Orders
Fast Becoming Mainstream
NEW YORK--(iBIZ WIRE) -- It was only a matter of time before restaurateurs began to see the benefits of giving their customers the option of ordering food online. This is not a new idea. Internet ordering has been around for years, e.g. Amazon.com and others. The big push into the restaurant arena has been evolving over the last 18 months. Only recently have restaurants begun to adopt this easy to use technology with its many benefits. Customers place food orders online instead of calling the restaurant for a takeout or delivery order.
Delphis Software (www.delphissoftware.com), a Fresno, California based corporation, has emerged as the online food ordering industry leader and the internet's most dominate player with more than 15,000 installations. Delphis Software has more restaurants online than any other vendor and is at the forefront of cutting-edge development. "Restaurateurs are slow adopters of new technology", said Neil Higgins a senior Vice President of Delphis. "They tend to watch over the long-term how a new technology may affect their business. In what seemed an overnight epiphany, restaurants large and small are now having Delphis implement online ordering. The process is very simple for the customer and restaurant, and it saves money and time. We sign-up new restaurants almost daily."
According to Neil, the cost is nominal at about $500 per year. "A one time advertisement in the local news paper costs more. Plus, this is one easy addition to a restaurant where the ROI are whole numbers and not fractions." Neil explains, "With online ordering, staff are not diverted to field phone calls, the order is always accurate eliminating remakes, the average ticket amount is higher, customers order more often, as well as many other benefits, all of which puts money directly into the pocket of the restaurant owner." Neil heartily exclaims, "At the end of the day, restaurants can easily have much more in their pockets than the small cost of online ordering."
Three of Delphis Software's customers comment very favorably about online food ordering. Randy Thurman, Director of Operations for the Alfy's Pizza chain in Washington state (www.alfyspizza.com) report savings and an increase in customer satisfaction. "Not only do we save money, but our customers enjoy the convenience of ordering at any time and without mistakes. This is a no-brainer", Mr. Thurman said. Executives with Green Tango (www.greentango.com) and Lucille's B.B.Q (www.lucillesbbq.com) all have the same upbeat enthusiasm when asked about their online ordering systems.
There are several established companies offering restaurant internet food ordering products. Along with Delphis Software, Kudzu Interactive, Brygid Technologies, and WebFood also have offerings. Many new startups are jumping into this industry with no proven track-record nor insight into their longevity, thus it may be advisable to work with the established firms if adding online ordering is contemplated.
It's clear that ordering food from your favorite restaurant via the internet has arrived. This simple technology benefits both business and consumer. Many new products hit the market each year. Some have viability, but most are mundane. Online food ordering is one 'not-so-new' feature that soon most every eatery will make part of their everyday business.
